In 1898 Harry and Percy Burgess began growing vegetables in the Peterborough Fens and running a fruit and vegetable shop in Richmond, London. Ever since the business has expanded using strong ethical values and today they remain a privately owned business with active involvement from the fourth generation of the Burgess family. Operating across five packing and farming sites in the UK growing and delivering conventional and organic roots and potatoes they pride themselves on their core values of customer first, innovation, responsibility to the community, environment, our people and our customers, collaboration, growing trust and learning. Their carrots and parsnips are grown through the UK from East Anglia, Nottinghamshire, Shropshire and Scotland according to the time of year to ensure the best product at the right time. Parsnips are primarily UK but with a short Spanish import season from May to mid July - they are still one of the true seasonal vegetables.
